On October 6, 2021 at 2:41 pm, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Canadian National Railroad who reported that their train had struck a person. The person was walking on the tracks east of Scenic Drive between Lakeview Road and Willow Creek Road in the Village of Richfield. Sheriff’s deputies along with the Richfield Fire Department and Rescue were dispatched.

Washington County Sheriff Investigators received numerous tips in response to our call for assistance today in identifying the victim of a car versus train accident. One nearby resident had captured video of the person believed to be the victim walking in the area a short time before the incident. A Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy assigned to the Village of Richfield recognized the individual in the picture. Authorities were able to make contact and make preliminary identification. No additional information is being released. The investigation into the incident continues.

On 09-21-2021 at 5:49pm, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received a 911 call reporting a car vs telephone pole accident on Donegal Rd in the Town of Erin. The caller stated that the driver, a male in his early thirties from Washington County, was slumped over the front passenger seat and was non-responsive. There were additionally two children in the car who were alert and conscious. Deputies and Hartford Fire and Rescue were subsequently dispatched to the scene.

Infant Death Investigation

WEST BEND, Wis. - The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a four-month-old female infant at a campground in the Town of Farmington today. The mother, a 38-year-old Washington County woman, called 911 at 7:34 am reporting her infant was not breathing and she was attempting to drive her infant to a medical facility. Deputies were able to meet the mother on Lakeview Rd at Cty Hwy A and take over CPR from a family friend and good Samaritan until medical responders arrived on scene.

Addison Tactical Situation

A 63-year old Town of Addison man is in custody this afternoon after a several hour standoff with the armed man came to a peaceful resolution a little after 11:00 am on 9/1/21. The incident began just after 8:00 am when the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting that the suspect had shot at his 60-year-old roommate with a rifle inside the residence, on CTH WW north of STH 33 in the Town of Addison. The roommate was able to escape the residence and go to a nearby farm and call 911. The victim escaped with minor injuries.

Jail Homicide 21-28137

Homicide charges were filed today in Washington County Circuit Court against an inmate after an attack last week in the Washington County Jail. Thirty-one-year-old George Telford of North Dakota was formally charged this afternoon with 1st Degree Intentional Homicide. These charges stem from a vicious, unprovoked attack that occurred on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 around 1:30 pm. The victim, a 23-year-old Washington County man, sadly succumbed to his injuries over the weekend.

Motorcycle crash with fatality and injury, Hwy 45 Kewaskum

On 08/08/2021 at 5:17pm, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received a 911 call of a subject down and receiving CPR on Hwy 45 between Hwy 28 and Cty Tk V in the Town of Kewaskum. Dispatch began receiving additional calls indicating that the subject was from a crashed motorcycle, and that there was a second patient over the guard rail. An Officer from the Kewaskum Police Department and Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office began responding, along with Kewaskum Fire.

Personal Injury Crash 21-26638

On August 5th 2021 at 8:34 PM the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received multiple reports of a two vehicle crash that occurred on Cty Tk PV at Hy 45 in the Town of Polk. It was reported that the crash involved a van that was still in traffic and a sedan that was in the ditch. An off-duty Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy was on scene and advised that one of the occupants of the sedan had been ejected and that the operator of the sedan was still inside of the vehicle but was unresponsive. Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies along with Jackson Fire and Rescue and West Bend Rescue were dispatched to the scene.

Fatal Accident Hwy 144 at Wallace Lake Rd

Washington County suffered its third fatal accident this morning. At approximately 8:04am the Sheriff’s Office was notified of rollover crash at the intersection of Highway 144 and Wallace Lake Road in the Township of Barton. A caller advised a box truck had struck a car and the driver of the car was breathing, but not conscious. The caller further advised there was a child in a safety seat in the back seat of the car. Squads were dispatched to the scene along with West Bend Fire & Rescue. An off-duty Sheriff’s Deputy came upon the accident scene and determined the driver of the car was agonal breathing and it did not appear that she had been wearing a seatbelt.

Washington County Deputies were dispatched to the area to check for a possible emergency. Prior to their arrival a second 911 call was received reporting a house fire at 4474 Summit Ridge possibly due to a lighting strike. The Slinger Police Department was requested under mutual aid to respond to assist in evacuating the residence, and the Slinger Fire Department was paged.

On Sunday, May 30, 2021, at 3:43 PM, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a motorcycle crash in the curves on Pleasant Hill Rd just east of Slinger Rd in the Village of Richfield. The caller was an area resident who heard the crash from her home. The caller responded to the scene and observed a motorcycle crashed in the south ditch of Pleasant Hill Rd and the lone male operator laying approximately 15 feet south of the motorcycle in the tall grass. The caller advised that the operator was unconscious and bleeding from the head; the operator was not wearing a helmet.

On Saturday, May 29, 2021, at 5:35 PM, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a shed fire at 3291 Pioneer Road in the Village of Richfield. The caller stated a small shed on the property was fully engulfed in flames and that her husband had sustained burns to his upper body and face. The caller advised that her husband (a 69 year old Germantown resident) was able to exit the shed and nobody else was inside the structure.

On May 19th, 2021 our agency was contacted by the Menomonee Falls Police Department about a death investigation they were conducting after responding to an apartment in the village to check the welfare of a subject. The police department was contacted on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 11:20 a.m. by a concerned family member. The police department made entry and located an adult female and adult male deceased of apparent gunshot wounds. Initial information provided by the Menomonee Falls Police Department indicated they were actively investigating the case, but not seeking any additional suspect(s) and there was no pending danger to the public.

Straight Truck Roll-Over Hwy 41 SB

On Monday 05/24/2021 at 3:05pm, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center began taking calls of a straight box truck on its side in the median of Hwy 41 SB just south of Hwy 60. Initial calls stated that the vehicle was potentially on fire. Upon the arrival of law enforcement on scene, the vehicle was found to not be on fire and any smoke was likely from the refrigerator unit on the cargo box of the truck. Another passenger vehicle was also found to have been struck in the accident.

Update Fugitive Captured

Twenty Seven-year-old Dmonte Williams was arrested by the United States Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force and a Washington County sheriff’s detective on Thursday morning in the City of Milwaukee without incident. He was wanted by Washington County authorities since December of last year for his alleged involvement in a home invasion robbery in the Village of Richfield last October.

4/21/2021 Multi-Vehicle Crashes on I41

WEST BEND, Wis. – Today at 11:13 a.m., the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center began taking a series of 911 calls from motorists on I41 near CTH D in the Town of Wayne for a multi-vehicle crash involving both passenger vehicles and commercial motor vehicles. Kohslville Fire Department was the lead fire department in this incident, and no major injuries were reported. Substantial traffic delays ensued as several commercial motor vehicles needed to be removed from the traffic lanes and I41 southbound was closed at STH 28.

Officer Involved Shooting Decision

WEST BEND, Wis. - The Washington County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the independent police investigation relating to the fatal police shooting of Nicholas S. Pingel, age 30, of West Bend by an on-duty Washington County sheriff’s deputy. That independent investigation was conducted by the Wisconsin Department of Justice - Division of Criminal Investigations as a result of an incident on February 3, 2021 in the Town of Kewaskum. On that date, deputies responded to the 8100 block of Forest View Rd for a violent crime spree committed by the suspect that left two innocent Washington County men dead.

Starting at 10:00am, only people going to the parade will be allowed to pass barricades northbound on CTH K. Single Family House Fire 21-6250

On Tuesday 2/23/2021 at approximately 1:05 am, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a house fire at a single family residence in the 6700 block of Alpine Dr in the Town of Addison. The fire was reported by one of the homeowners. The homeowners first reported observing active flames coming from the sunroom located at the rear of the residence. The homeowners were able to safely evacuate the residence along with their dog.

Today at 3:13 am, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of heavy smoke and flames coming from the area of Addison Road and Aurora Road in the Town of Hartford. The first arriving Deputy determined it was coming from a fully engulfed garage type outbuilding at a business in the 5200 block of Aurora Rd. The St. Lawrence Fire Department was paged and the call was upgraded to a MABAS call. Shed Fire

On the above date at 11:01am the Sheriff’s Office was notified of a shed fire at 1836 Western Ave in the Town of Jackson. The caller reported the roof of the shed was fully engulfed. Deputies were dispatched along with Jackson Fire Department. The first Deputy arrived confirming smoke and flames coming from the roof and verified there was no animals or people inside the building.

Case: Child Pornography Arrest 20-37838

Brady J Wycklendt, 33, was charged last week in Washington County Circuit Court with 15 counts of possession of child pornography as well as several drug charges. He was arrested on the morning of December 9th by Washington County Sheriff's investigators after a search warrant was executed at his Town of Polk residence. Numerous electronic devices, a marijuana grow operation and a small number of prescription pills were seized during the raid.

Case: Home Invasion 20-34264

Charges were filed in Washington County Circuit Court on Monday against a 26-year-old Milwaukee man and 51-year-old Milwaukee women. These charges are the culmination of a 6-week, multi-jurisdictional investigation, led by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office into a home invasion robbery that occurred in the Village of Richfield on October 23rd.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the following information pursuant to WI Statute 301.46(2m) which authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a sex offender’s release when, in the discretion of the agency, the release of information will enhance public safety, awareness and protection. The individual who appears on this notification has been convicted of a sex offense. Further, his criminal history places him in a classification level which reflects a low potential to re-offend.
