Sandy Knoll County Park is the largest of the Washington County parks. The relatively
flat terrain and well-drained sandy soil make this Park available to the public even during a wet season.

Oaks and maples are the predominant deciduous tree species. The driest areas are covered by grassland with scattered oak trees, called "oak openings." The few swampy areas support a combination of hardwoods and cedars.

The Park provides both educational and recreational opportunities. Hiking and skiing loops traverse the Park. The pond, with adjacent streams, makes this an excellent area for aquatic studies.

Park Rules and Regulations
  • No hunting or trapping
  • Parking on grass is prohibited
  • No dogs allowed on beach or in swimming area
  • Keep pets under control and
    on a leash not to exceed 6 feet. Owners responsible for picking
    up all pet waste.
  • No golfing on soccer fields
  • Observe speed limit and other posted regulations
  • No overnight camping or open fires, other than those contained in grills.
