Washington County's newest park, Leonard J. Yahr County Park, opened August 14, 2007.

Owned by the Carl Erler family since the late 1800's, the property was used as a sawmill that was eventually converted into a sulfur match factory in the late 1870's. In 1943, when Leonard and Ruth Yahr retained ownership, portions of the land were used as a dairy farm and later, as an apple orchard.
