Erin Smart Growth Interactive Visioning Workshop

The Town of Erin hosted a Comprehensive Smart Growth Interactive Visioning Workshop on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at the Town Hall between the hours of 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. The workshop provided several opportunities for citizens to learn about the countywide Comprehensive Plan draft inventory chapters and provided opportunities to express their vision of the future. The workshop was conducted in an open house format, where participants could choose when to attend and which activities to complete.

There were a total of five stations where participants had opportunities to gather information and learn about the Smart Growth Plan and to participate in hands-on visioning activities. Activities included: mapping future land use through the use of Geographic Information System software, surveying preferred types of development through a slideshow format, evaluating the Town of Addison's existing land use goals, writing a visioning statement for the Town of Addison, and sharing opinions about Smart Growth elements and goals. A presentation of the draft inventory chapters was conducted at 4:00 p.m.

Eleven residents from the Town of Erin attended the workshop. The overall feedback regarding the workshop was very positive. There will be another public participation opportunity for the Town of Erin in early 2008 to review the recommendations of the Town of Erin Comprehensive Plan.

Thank you to all who attended the workshop. Your opinion is valued and the results from the workshop will be forwarded to local government officials and workgroups to be considered during future decision-making processes. We will see you in 2008!
