Information for Candidates
Every person seeking public office needs to register with the appropriate filing officer as soon as the person has the intent to run for office.
The Washington County Clerk is the filing officer for the following offices:
- County Board Supervisor
- County Clerk
- County Treasurer
- Sheriff
- Clerk of Circuit Court
- Register of Deeds
- Multi-Jurisdictional Municipal Court Judge for the Mid-Moraine Municipal Court
The Municipal Clerk is the filing officer for all Municipal Offices (City, Village, or Town offices) The School District Clerk is the filing officer for School Board Members
The documents required to obtain ballot status for Washington County Clerk of Circuit Court or Washington County Sheriff are below. The GAB-1 (Campaign Registration Statement) must be submitted to the Washington County Clerk as soon as you have the intent to run for office, or as soon as you spend more than $25 on campaign expenses. All other required documents for the Clerk of Circuit Court or Sheriff must be received in the office of the County Clerk by 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2010.
