County Park System and Reservation Program


Washington County Park System includes more than 1,200 acres of breathtaking views, wooded trails and serene lakes and ponds. Spring, summer and fall activities available include hiking, picnicking, boating, swimming, nature/cultural trails, canoeing, fishing, basketball and sand volleyball. Winter is bustling with activities such as ice-fishing, sledding, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.

A Park and Open Space Plan for Washington County: 2035

The Planning and Parks Department is updating the County Park and Open Space Plan which will address both open space preservation and outdoor recreation as key elements to the future success, economic vitality and quality of life in Washington County. To view the summary document of public outreach events held throughout October 2014, click here.

The Planning and Parks Department conducted an online survey in 2013 to help determine future funding priorities for improvements to the Washington County Park System. The survey offered a chance for the public to provide opinions about what the County Park System would look like in the future. A total of 650 surveys were submitted. The full survey report (64 pages) is available below, along with a 2-page fact sheet summarizing survey results.
