On Thursday, September 12, 2013 Washington County Land & Water Conservation and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) brought you The "Dirt" On Healthy Soils-field day at Dornacker Prairie Acres in the Town of Addison. We "unlocked the secrets in the soil" from 10:30am-3:00pm. We heard about farmer soil health secrets from Allen and Ralph Dornacker. We learned from local Case IH & John Deere representatives about GPS & Autosteer technology. We listened to discussion on soil health management systems with NRCS staff. "Dig a little, learn a lot" is what we did from our soil pit investigations and ran soil quality indicator tests with our NRCS soil quality team.
