D.A.R.E.
Drug Abuse Resistance Education is a nationwide program that has found a home in Washington County. Specially trained officers deliver 10 lessons, each about 60 minutes in length, to students in the fifth grade. D.A.R.E. helps students build refusal skills to deal with peer pressure to experiment with illegal drugs. The Sheriff's Department assists in bringing D.A.R.E. into any interested school districts. A speaker is also available to explain the D.A.R.E. program to interested organizations.
