Providing Help to Make It Through Challenging Times
Limited incomes and unexpected financial problems can make it difficult to provide a healthy, safe environment for individuals and their families. Our Economic Support division, through the Moraine Lakes Consortium, offers financial assistance programs to help financially troubled residents of Washington County sustain or improve their quality of life. Our experienced staff will work with you, guiding you through the process to ensure best results.
BadgerCare Plus is a health care coverage program for low income Wisconsin residents. Cooperation with the child support agency is a requirement of the BadgerCare Plus program. If you are over the income limit for Badger Care Plus, you may be eligible for insurance at a reduced cost through the Federal Marketplace. Child Care Assistance
Help is available for low income families who need child care for employment. Families must meet financial guidelines to be eligible and the child care provider must be licensed or certified. The Wisconsin Shares program pays part of the cost of day care based on family size, number of kids in care, type of provider and family gross income. Cooperation with the child support agency is a requirement of the program.

Choosing Child Care
The Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) helps eligible households pay for heating costs with a one time payment during the heating season, October 1st through May 15th.
Emergency services may also be available to qualifying households year round to avoid disconnects.

Medical Assistance (T-19) is for elderly, blind or disabled individuals including nursing home and Family Care. Eligibility is based on your family’s gross income and assets. Some services require a co pay and depending on your income, there could be a deductible.

Wisconsin Works (W-2)
The primary purpose of W-2 is to help individuals with barriers to employment become work ready. Participants receive monthly wages for employment, community service jobs or for performing other assigned work related activities. In addition to income and asset limits, you must be caring for a minor child. Cooperation with the child support agency is a requirement.
